In July 2013, Klyuch-C Publishing released a new book entitled Indonesia: A Short Guide. Russian-Indonesian Phrasebook (ISBN 978-5-93136-203-8, 248 pages). The book was compiled by Victor Pogodaev, who now teaches at the University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur). The book provides information on the geography, administrative-territorial divisions, economy, government, history, culture and literature of Indonesia, and offers useful advice for travellers. A Russian-Indonesian phrasebook is also included.

In August this year two policy analysts, Mrs. Joevi Roedyati and Mr. Torang Pakpahan, from the Center for Policy Analysis and Development on International Organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia visited the ASEAN Centre in MGIMO. The purpose of their visit was to meet Russian colleagues and discuss a relatively new phenomenon in international relations: the establishment of ‘strategic partnerships’ between countries. The Indonesian and Russian experts also discussed the current state of relations between Russia and Indonesia.

ASEAN Centre presents Kavi Chongkittavorn’s new article about Russia’s security initiatives for the Asia-Pacific region. The article is published by the Straits Times, one of the most prominent newspapers in Southeast Asia. Kavi Chongkittavorn is assistant group editor of Nation Media Group in Thailand and a special guest of 1st ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit held in Moscow in May this year.

As a follow-up for the debates that took place during the Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit and experts’ roundtable (13-15 May 2013) ASEAN Centre publishes a comment by Aaron Chee, currently an MA student in MGIMO and active participant of the Youth Summit. His ideas are important for the further discussion about ASEAN-Russia relations and for the search of optimal ways for both parties concerned to enhance this relationship.
