ASEAN Centre is delighted to announce that the 2nd ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit will take place in Kuala-Lumpur (Malaysia) on October 16-18 this year.
The 1st Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit took place from 13 to 14 May 2013 in Moscow organised by the ASEAN Centre in MGIMO University in partnership with RIA Novosti Media Holding. The theme of this Summit was 'Young Russia – Young ASEAN: Dialogue for Connectivity'. Around 200 young participants, comprising Russian students studying Southeast Asian languages and Southeast Asia-related subjects, and ASEAN students from various Universities across Russia attended the Summit.
Both its participants and organisers considered the 1st Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit a success. All parties agreed that more of such Summits should be organised in the future, and that they should be held in Russia once every two years, and in an ASEAN country on alternate years.
In this context, the leadership of the Global Movement of Moderates Foundation (GMMF) has proposed Kuala Lumpur as a venue for the 2nd Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit.
The preliminary schedule of the Summit:
October 16 – pre-Summit activities;
October 17-18 – Summit discussions and workshops;
October 19 – free time in Kuala Lumpur (optional).
