On February 18th the Seminar “Toward Indonesia-Russia Strategic Partnership: Challenges and Opportunities” organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow and dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of Indonesia-Russia diplomatic relations will take place at MGIMO University.
The working programme of the seminar includes three following sessions:
- Session “Indonesia-Russia Strategic Partnership”
- Session 2 “Bridging Indonesia-Russia: Digital Economy Way”
- Session 3 “Indonesia-Russia: Challenges of Multi-cultural Societies in Digital Era”

February 4th, MGIMO received ASEAN Secretary General Lim Jock Hoi, who came to Moscow on an official visit together with a delegation of senior officials of the ASEAN Secretariat.
The guests were greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector A. Malgin, the Deputy Director of the Department of Asian-Pacific Cooperation at the Russian Foreign Ministry A. Lyamin and the Director of the ASEAN Center V. Sumsky. Associate Professor E. Koldunova made a short presentation on the most recent projects of the Center.
The guest of honour was taken on a tour of the ASEAN Center and had an informal discussion with representatives of MGIMO and the Russian Foreign Ministry about the directions for the development of the ASEAN center. Lim Jock Hoi then addressed the participants of an expert round table organized in his honour.

On January 21st, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the Russian Federation Sadasivan Premjith paid a visit to MGIMO. The guest received a warm welcome from the Director of the ASEAN Centre Dr. Victor Sumsky, Centre’s Senior Expert Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova and Analyst Ms. Valeria Vershinina.
The Deputy-Chief of Mission Mr. Seah Seow Chen accompanied Ambassador on this visit. Among the meeting attendees was the Singaporean student studying at MGIMO.
The Director reviewed the ASEAN Centre’s history and presented its activities to the guests. Dr. Victor Sumsky noted that the Centre develops cooperation not only on ASEAN basis but also on a bilateral basis. He also underlined that during Singapore’s Chairmanship in ASEAN in 2018 the ASEAN Centre has successfully implemented several joint projects in cooperation with the Singapore Embassy.
