Natalia Stapran is Associate Professor at the Department of Oriental Studies, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Her areas of expertise include Russian foreign policy and international relations in the Asia-Pacific region. Her special interest is security and economic cooperation issues in East Asia, Japanese and American strategy in the region. Natalia Stapran holds a Ph.D. in International Relations. In 2002–04 she served as senior analyst at the Russian Embassy in Tokyo. In 2008 Dr Stapran received a Post Graduate certificate in Higher Education of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Since 2010 she has been a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences. Dr Stapran has published in Russian and English on international relations in the Asia-Pacific region, American policy in Asia, and Russian foreign policy in the East. Her latest book is The Integration Processes in the Asia-Pacific Region (2010). Dr Stapran speaks Japanese and English.
