September-December 2020
In 2020 the ASEAN Centre carried out a new open lecture course — ASEAN Academic Days at MGIMO University. This event brings together a group of prominent lecturers to present their views on the current dynamics and trends in political and economic development of Southeast Asia as a whole and of the individual ASEAN member-states. November 2019
November 27th, the fifth Russia-ASEAN Youth summit started its work in Manila. The event was organized with the support of the National Youth Council and brought together students and young professionals from the ten ASEAN countries and Russia. The members of the Russian delegation were selected by MGIMO’s ASEAN centre based on the results of an essay contest on the «ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership» and among those representing Russia were students from MGIMO, Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, the Far Eastern Federal University, the Higher School of Economics and the Crimean Federal University.

October 2019
ASEAN Academic Days at MGIMO University, October 7-23, a new open course. A unique project was designed and carried out by the ASEAN Centre. This event brought together a group of prominent lecturers to present their views on the current dynamics and trends in political and economic development of Southeast Asia as a whole and of the individual ASEAN member-states. The objectives and prospects of the ASEAN-Russia strategic partnership were discussed too.

October 2019
On October 21st the ASEAN–Russia Forum on Education started at MGIMO. The Forum is being held within the framework of the 12th Russian International Studies Association (RISA) Convention with more than 60 ASEAN officials from the ministries and educational institutions taking part in the event. The participants discussed cooperation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and in teaching STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). One of the sessions was organised by the Association of Leading Universities and deal with the features of cooperation in education in the modern international context. The programme also included Thailand–Russia roundtable on peculiarities of gifted children upbringing. The Forum was held under the sponsorship of the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Ministry of Education.

April 2018
MGIMO Rector Prof. Anatoly Torkunov opened Plenary session of the Inaugural Meeting of the Network of ASEAN-Russia Think Tanks (NARTT) that began its two-day work at MGIMO University on April 20th. Inaugural Meeting last two days and concluded with the adoption of the set of recommendations to the ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials Meeting.

Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) has published a report entitled “Russia’s Interests in the Asia Pacific Region: Security and Development: Summarizing the First Asia Pacific Forum”. The report has been co-authored by Dr. Victor Sumsky, the ASEAN Centre Director, and two experts of the Centre, Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova and Dr. Evgeny Kanaev.

May 2012
A collection of essays and articles entitled “ASEAN-Russia: Foundations and Future Prospects” has been published in Singapore. The volume dedicated to the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia dialogue partnership is a joint project of the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS, Singapore) and MGIMO’s ASEAN Centre.

March 2012
Security Index, the international edition of the PIR-Center’s journal has published the materials of the round table discussion “A Changing Myanmar: What It Means for the Region, for China, and for Russia”. This event was jointly organized by the PIR-Center and ASEAN Centre.

October-November 2011
The Moscow Bureau of Creative Expeditions led by Vladimir Anisimov has organized a 3-week visit to the Philippines by a group of distinguished Russian artists. Their objective is to produce paintings and drawings depicting this country and its people for a series of exhibitions dedicated to the Philippines. More expeditions to other ASEAN Countries are planned along the same lines. The concept of the project has been offered by the ASEAN Centre (which is also providing expert advice to the Bureau). First exhibitions should be organized in the Philippines in the summer of 2012.
