Introducing… Yoong Ren Yan

Introducing… Yoong Ren Yan

Yoong Ren Yan, 19, is a Singaporean student currently on a three-week internship at the ASEAN Centre in MGIMO. He is involved primarily in adding material to and polishing the English language version of the Centre’s website. Ren Yan is a second-year undergraduate studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. This is his first time in Russia and Moscow.

Ren Yan is particularly interested in the politics of the ASEAN nations, especially Singapore and Malaysia, where he has relatives. He follows the current affairs of the world closely. Being an international student has made him more aware of his identity as a Singaporean and a Southeast Asian, while immersing him in how the rest of the world thinks, works, and plays. Ren Yan speaks English and Mandarin Chinese, and learnt French at school, but is still trying to pick up Russian!

Those who would like to get in touch with Yoong Ren Yan personally are invited to meet him on the ASEAN Centre premises (room 502 of the new MGIMO building) before Friday, September 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. His e-mail is
