Russia ASEAN Youth Association Announcement

The 4th ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit that was being held on October 24-27, 2016 in Siem Reap Cambodia has resulted in some fresh ideas towards the summit. The ideas mainly focus on how the youth of ASEAN countries and Russia should be able to gain more information and source of knowledge about each other countries. The ideas were important to strengthen the relation among ASEAN and Russian youth which in further can create more contributions from the youth within regions toward the world.

On the 4th summit, there was a realization that up to since then, the alumni still did not have a platform as a place where they can still communicate productively and implement their ideas together after the summit. Starting from that realization, the summit resulted an initiative to create a platform for all alumni of the past until the latest ASEAN – Russia Youth Summits, where the alumni can productively communicate, gather, do projects and implement their ideas together, as their contribution towards the efforts to strengthen relations of ASEAN and Russian youth.

Being expressed through the speeches of Victoria Yavorskaya, a delegate from Russia and Oktafia Rachmawati Putri, the head of delegation from Indonesia, the summit ended with a strong commitment among the delegations to create the platform.

On January 27, 2017, RUSSEAN (Russia ASEAN Youth Association) was officially formed as the platform for all the alumni of all ASEAN – Russia Youth Summits. The RUSSEAN itself was originally initiated by Indonesian delegation of the 3rd ASEAN – Russia Youth Summit 2015 as the platform for the Indonesian alumni. Seeing the platform has the same agenda but need to be widen up, the alumni from the 4th summit saw the importance to merge with the existing platform as it was a good beginning to bridge one batch to another, instead of creating a whole new one.

RUSSEAN currently has both the alumni of 3rd and 4th summit as the management members. The CEO (leader) is filled by Mr. Yusuf Firdaus Ramadhan, from the 3rd summit. The project leader position is filled by 2 people from the 4th summit, Ms. Victoria Yavorskaya & Ms. Oktafia Rachmawati Putri, and 1 person from 3rd summit, Ms. Ismi Raisa Rusydi. As the beginning, the most vital position which is social media is being filled by Ms. Gisela Luigi and Mr. M. Ilham Karim as the social media strategists.

In the future, RUSSEAN will seek to gain more involvement from other alumni as well, as the projects will be going to happen within 2017. Moreover, as a platform, RUSSEAN has a wide vision which is to “..become the HUB of the youth of ASEAN and Russia”. The vision is projected to be achieved through several programs which are: mailing list, ASEAN – Russia Youth One-Stop Information Center and ASEAN – Russia Youth HUB.

RUSSEAN is a start-up global youth platform that still has long way to go. With the strong commitment and loyalty from its members, RUSSEAN has been actively growing since the day it was officially formed.
