Conference “New Eurasian Multilateralism: The Response of China and Russia”


On November 3rd, the Valdai Discussion Club in cooperation with the Centre for Russia-China Strategic Interaction under the CITIC Foundation for Reform and Development Studies of China held an online conference on “New Eurasian Multilateralism: The Response of China and Russia”.

Among the guest speakers were Prof. Alexei Voskressenski, Director of the Centre for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects at MGIMO University, Mr. Li Ruogu, President, Export-Import Bank of China (2005–2015), Mr. Andrey Panteleev, Head of Economic Policy Strategies Section, Macroeconomic Policy Department of EEC and Mr. Wang Haiyun, Major General (Ret.), Former Military Attaché at the Chinese embassy in Moscow. The discussions were joined by Dr. Victor Sumsky, ASEAN Centre’s Director, Dr. Yana Leksyutina, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor at the St. Petersburg State University, Mr. Wang Xiangxue, Secretary General, the CITIC Foundation for the Study of Reforms and Development in China and Mr. Wang Yongli, Major General (Ret.), Former Deputy Commander of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison.

The conference was moderated by Dr. Yaroslav Lissovolik, Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club. The participants discussed several topics focused on new multilateralism, transregionalism, inclusive development and interface between various regional projects in the Eurasia.
