“Moscow to Manila” Series Over with Third and Final Webinar

The July 3 meeting has concluded the “Moscow to Manila” webinar series dedicated to the 45th anniversary of Russia-Philippines diplomatic relations. This is the ASEAN Centre and the Benilde School of Diplomacy and Governance joint project, with three webinars in total organized within the series framework.

The guest speakers of the webinar were Filipino and Russian diplomats, businesspersons and academics, namely: Mr. Robert Ferrer, Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, Philippine Embassy in Moscow, Russia; Ms. Nina Prakapovich, Attaché, Russian Embassy in Manila, Philippines; Dr. Carlos Tabunda, Jr., Director, New Era University – ASEAN Studies Center; Mr. Amerigo Tatel, Founder, Infoeast Consultancy Group, and Mr. Lenin Magallona, Business Consultant, Magallona Group – Restaurant Business Solutions.

The speakers presented their own perspectives on the current state of affairs in Russia-Philippines relations; they also described possible trends and identified prospective spheres of more intense cooperation. The past five years have shown unseen increase in bilateral cooperation dynamic and productivity, the speakers insisted, with a number of cooperation agreements signed in various spheres, from medicine to trade and military security. There are, nevertheless, some problems concerning logistics, the availability of information about business opportunities and business environment in both countries, as well as support in job connection for students specializing on either Philippines or Russia studies. A lively Q&A session followed the discussion, with a wide range of bilateral relations issues raised.

80 people approximately joined the event by prior registration. The webinar was also live streamed on the ASEAN Centre and the Benilde School of Diplomacy and Governance Facebook pages.

The organizers thank all the speakers and participants of the “Moscow to Manila” webinar series and are looking forward to seeing you soon in the upcoming semester!
