On November 22, within the ASEAN Week 2022 the ASEAN Centre held its traditional master class for students majoring in Southeast Asian Studies.

This year among the guest speakers were representatives from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and Russian Energy Agency, namely Mr. Dmitry Semenov, Head of the Department of the International Relations of the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Olga Yudina, Advisor to Director General of the Russian Energy Agency, Mr. Sergey Tulinov, Project Lead at the Secretariat of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and Ms. Alena Zaytseva, Chief Expert of the Department of International Relations of the Russian Energy Agency. At the beginning of the event Dr. Igbal Adil ogly Guliev, Deputy Director of the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy welcomed the audience. Dr. Valeria Vershinina, Expert of the ASEAN Centre moderated the session.

Guest speakers introduced the Ministry’s and Agency’s activities, its missions, key areas of cooperation and major international projects. The protocol support for the delegates from ASEAN states and the important tips how to work with the representatives of Southeast Asian nations were also on the agenda. Besides that the participants discussed the prospects of Russia-ASEAN relations in the energy sphere. Students were interested in the opportunities for internships at the Ministry and ESCAP as well in prospects for further employment. At the end of the meetings speakers shared a reading list on energy topic and called on students to pay more attention to studying foreign languages and improving writing skills.

Among the master class audience were students of the School of International Relations and of the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy, as well as students from Institute of Asian and African Studies of the Moscow State University and Higher School of Economics.
