Indonesian music and culture concert at the Hermitage Garden and fashion show by the Embassy of Indonesia in Moscow

On August 17–18, a series of events dedicated to the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia took place in Moscow at the Hermitage Garden and at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.

On August 17, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow invited all Indonesia admirers to the concert of Indonesian music and culture at the Hermitage Garden, Moscow. At the official opening ceremony, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation H.E. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares addressed the event guests with a welcoming speech.

The concert started with a performance by the Javanese traditional gamelan team "Gamelan Dadali" as well as by the Indonesian diaspora artists in Russia and Indonesian students studying in the country. At the end of the show, famous singers of the popular dangdut genre - Rara and Hari, winners of the national Dangdut League of Indonesia, performed for the local guests.

The festival program also included traditional dances from "Kirana Nusantara Dance" group, music compositions by traditional angklung and kulintang orchestras as well as the pencak-silat fighters show. The event was attended by Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the ASEAN Centre and ASEAN Centre’s experts Dr. Nikita Kuklin and Ms. Kira Tabunova, along with Dr. Viktor Pogadaev, the visiting expert of the Centre and prominent specialist on Indonesia and Malaysia.

On August 18, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow, Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the ASEAN Centre has also attended a fashion show by the renowned Indonesian designer and fashion design competitions winner Adrie Basuki. Adrie actively promotes the national culture via his artworks, defends the environmental agenda, women's rights and invites people who have lost their jobs to work on his projects. His project is an important social message reflecting the culture and values of Indonesia.
