On November, 3, 2023 the exhibition “In the Shadow of the Angkorian Towers. The Art of Cambodia” dedicated to the artistic crafts and arts and crafts of Cambodia opened in the main building of the State Museum of Oriental Art. MGIMO BA students majoring in Khmer and Thai language took part in the opening ceremony.

The exhibition features more than 150 artistic objects from the collection of the State Museum of Oriental Art, including ceremonial vessels, religious objects, Buddhist sculpture and much more. The exhibition will be working until January 14, 2024.

The museum's official website notes that in 20 years this is the first exhibition dedicated exclusively to the art of Cambodia. Remarkably, in 2023 the Kingdom of Cambodia celebrates the 70th anniversary of its independence. On November 9, 1953, the French colonial administration officially withdrew from Cambodia.
