ASEAN Centre Welcomes Naval Attaché of Thailand


On September 15, 2023 Captain Sunsearn Sadod, Thai Naval Attaché to Moscow paid a visit to the ASEAN Centre. Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Centre’s Director, Dr. Valeria Vershinina, Deputy Director and Experts Dr. Nikita Kuklin and Ms. Kira Tabunova welcomed the guest.

The visit’s purpose was to present to the ASEAN Centre’s library a book “King of Thailand, King Bhumibhol” in Thai language, dedicated to the biography of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and the history of Thai monarchy. Captain Sunsearn Sadod expressed his sincere hope that this book will be helpful for students, majoring in Thai studies and interested in the Kingdom’s history.
Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova thanked the guest for such a valuable gift to the Centre’s book library and stressed that this album will be useful for the study of contemporary Thailand and Thai language classes. Director also introduced to naval attaché new educational programs focused on Russia and ASEAN relations, and presented new opportunities for Thai students to study in MGIMO, including the MA Program “Political Economy of ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership”.

Donated books are now available at the ASEAN Centre for those who wish to understand the history of monarchy in Thailand and the role of King Rama IX in the countries’ development.
