In August 2021 a phenomenon, ordinary for the recent political life in Malaysia, took place – the resignation of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who became the most “short-run” leader in the history of the country, having occupied the position for only 17 months. He was succeeded by an experienced politician, well-known to the Malaysian public, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who previously served as Minister of Defense and Senior Minister in the cabinet of Muhyiddin Yassin.
